Parent and Family Support.
Alongside the other three areas that Stepping Stones will focus on, will be a focus on supporting parents and families. Anyone with children knows the stresses and strains that trying to bring up children in the modern world does bring to all families, and that's when things are going well!
Three Tiers of Support.
The form of support will encompass all parents and carers, from those who just want to know a little more about their child's education to those families who are having to deal with complex issues who need one to one support.
Tier One: School Based workshops - led by school staff on topics such as 'How to Help Your Child with Homework'
Tier Two: Specialist workshops - led by specially trained staff and our Parent Support Advisor, supporting groups of parents who are having similar problems/difficulties.
Tier Three: One to One support and signposting via our Parent Support Advisor - this level of support must be accessed via the designated member of staff at your child's school.

Parent/Family Support Advisor - Sue Fairgrieve
Okehampton Stepping Stones have an experienced and dedicated Parent Support Advisor who will support families across the Okehampton Learning Community. This provision must be accessed via the child's school. A designated member of staff from each school will assess the needs of their families and make a decision to refer a family to the Parent Support Advisor who will then meet with the family and decide on a course of action which could be: signposting of more appropriate services, working with the family one to one or referring the family to a tier two workshop.
